Adding a Reader

  1. From the left navigation pane, click Hardware.
  2. From the top navigation bar, click Profiles.

  3. In the Hardware Profiles page, find and select the site profile to which you wish to add a device.
  4. Click Edit on the profile tile. You can also click Actions icon. and select Edit from the list.

  5. In the Edit Profile page, click the Configurations tab.

  6. Go to the Reader section, then click New Reader.
  7. On the Add New Reader page, complete the details.

    Field

    Description

    Name

    Enter a unique and meaningful name.

    The name should contain only alphanumeric characters and no spaces.

    Up to 255 characters can be used.

    Description

    Enter more information about the device.

    General

    Logical ID

    Enter a unique identifier for the device connected to the S1000 Controller. Allowed range is 0-254.

    Device

    Click + to find and select the device that the reader is connected to.

    Physical ID on Device

    Enter the unique identifier configured for the reader.

    This must match the ID variable on the AXIS message field.

    Area

    Click + to find and select the area where the device is located.

    RF Module

    Click + to find and select the radio frequency module used by the reader.

    Available options:

    • Off
    • Dual Frequency
    • High Frequency
    • Low Frequency.

    Mode Change

    Click + to find and select when mode changes are allowed.

    Available options:

    • None Allowed
    • Entry
    • Exit
    • Entry and Exit.

    Card and PIN Schedule

    Click + to find and select a schedule to be used for card and PIN access.

    Time Attendance

    Toggle OFF or ON for the reader to be used to record user time attendance.

    Multi Factor (when Armed)

    Toggle OFF or ON for multi-factor authentication to be enforced when the reader is in the armed state.

    Beep on Valid Badge

    Toggle OFF or ON for the reader to beep when a valid card is swiped or a valid PIN entered.

    Dual Authentication Mode

    Click + to find and select the dual authentication mode to be used for the reader.

    OSDP LED Configuration

    Leave the default colors for the different states.

    Wiegand Settings

    This section of fields is available if Controller is selected as the Device that the reader is connected to.

    D0 Input Physical ID

    Accept LED Output

    Click + to find and select the output that will be used for the accept LED.

    Denied LED Output

    Click + to find and select the output that will be used for the denied LED.

    Buzzer Output

    Click + to find and select the output that will be used for the buzzer.

    Pull Up Resistor

    Toggle OFF or ON for a pull up resistor to be used to ensure a known state for a signal.

    Encryption

    Readers can be configured with encryption keys for secure channel communication between the S1000 Controller and the reader.

    Encryption Mode

    Click + to set encrypted mode of communication for the reader. The available options are:

    • Unencrypted -The reader will accept unencrypted communication.

    • Default Key - The reader will establish encrypted communication sessions with the controller using the default secure channel base key, SCBK-D.

    • Custom Key -The reader will establish encrypted communication sessions with the controller using a custom secure channel base key, SCBK.

    Custom Key

    If the Encryption Mode is set to Custom Key, you can use the system generated encryption key.

    You can also enter a 128-bit (32 hexadecimal characters) encryption key of your choice.

    If the reader was previously configured for encrypted communication, copy-paste the existing key.

    Reporting

    Report Events

    Turn on the toggle to record events.

    Report To

    Select the connection paths where the recorded events will be reported. Select the checkbox next to the option on the drop-down list or select the Select All checkbox.

    High Priority

    Turn on the toggle to assign high priority to this device.

  8. Click Create.
