Wiegand Data Cables

The Wiegand interface uses 3 wires:

  • 1 which is common ground
  • 2 are data transmission wires, DATA0 and DATA1.

A high signaling level of 5VDC is used to accommodate long cable lengths from card readers to the associated access control panel, typically located in an enclosure.

Note:

  • Limit the maximum cable length to 150m (492ft).

  • Limit the maximum resistance to 10Ω.
