Wiring

The S1000 Controller support the Modbus RTU protocol. Wiring can use the connection PL5 or PL6 with standard connections.

Note: The overall RS485 cable length connecting all devices must not be more than 1200m.

Each Modbus device is given a unique address on the RS485 bus. Up to 8 Modbus devices can be added to the S1000 Controller.

The RS485 requires termination on both sides of the bus:

  • S1000 using the jumper
  • last device using the 120Ω resistor.

Terminate the last Modbus device using the 120Ω resistor as close to the last device as possible.

Wiring can use the PL5 and PL6 connection with standard connections.

Set the jumper settings to enable the RS485 signal.

Open the S7: Termination Link for port PL5 or the S8: Termination Link for port PL6.
Note: For OSDP RS485 termination, the first and last devices must be terminated. When using the S1000 Controller this is usually achieved with the DIP switch or TERM link header.
