Maintenance

Sonitrol recommends replacing the battery every 3 to 5 years under normal use.

Annual maintenance is required if no breakdowns or other faults are reported. Response to call-outs for breakdowns or other faults are attended to, on-site within 48 hours of notification.

Disconnect AC mains and battery from the power supply before cleaning. Use dry cloth and a cleaning solvent spray to wipe battery terminals.

Do not use abrasive cleaners or spray cleaners directly on the power supply, or immerse it in water.

To install or replace an external backup battery connected to an associated UL power supply:

  1. Disconnect the 2-pin connector at the battery input PL7 so that the battery can be removed with wires still attached.
  2. Remove the battery from the enclosure.
  3. Disconnect the battery leads from the old battery.

  4. Connect the color-coded wires to the new battery (red to positive (+), black to negative (-)).

    If the installation has different colored wires for positive/negative terminals, note the wire colors/terminals before disconnecting them. Make sure that you follow the same colors/terminals when connecting the battery.

  5. Insert the replacement battery into the enclosure, and plug the 2-pin connector back in to the battery input PL7.
