Installation type

Description

Basic

Used mainly for demonstration servers.

The basic installation includes a PostgreSQL database container to use as the database provider and creates a self-signed SSL certificate.

It uses default settings with the option to choose the integrations needed.

Advanced

Used mainly for production servers.

The advanced installation allows you to select the database provider (MSSQL or PostgreSQL) and to upload a SSL certificate / key or generate one.

Note: MySQL is not supported for new installations. However, you can upgrade existing installations.

It allows you to create a custom domain and include custom branding on the Sonitrol CORE login screen.

Local Gateway

Used mainly when installing gateways to connect to a pre-existing Sonitrol CORE Server.

The connection is required to access video or other devices on a different network to the Sonitrol CORE Server.

Multi-Server

Used to set up multi-node Docker swarms for high availability.

At least 3 servers must be running Docker in order to use the capabilities of the multi-node set up.

Most of the advanced installation type features are also included for the multi-server installation, except for being able to set up a containerized MSSQL database server.

Note: MySQL is not supported for new installations. However, you can upgrade existing installations.

This should not be used for servers running Windows, as connecting servers using Docker swarms do not function as expected.

Note: No matter which installation type is selected, the initial setup must be always be done first.
